Camp Liberty- Super Heroes to Cowboys

We have been learning about kindness.  We read the book "Each Kindness" and were reminded through this object lesson that each small kindness that we show causes big ripples that create big change.  You can grab the lesson plan here.

I reminded the kiddos that our words are like this toothpaste.  Once they come out, we can't put them back in.

The last object lesson used a paper heart.  I told the kiddos that unkind words and actions cause wrinkles and tears in our heart the can't be smoothed out.  It is important to think before you speak.  We reviewed the verse... "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12

We made hugs to give to someone we love.

Kindness is Love in Action

During superhero week, we began our day singing "Jesus You're My Superhero."

The kiddos were given several challenges this week.  One was to design a capsule for Super Egg to keep him from cracking up.

They used recycled material and masking tape to build the capsules.

We dropped them...

and carefully unwrapped them to see if the eggs were safe.

Some survived...

and some did not...

in the end, only one remained.

Our second challenge was to rescue Batman and the Super Ponies from ice mountain.

With much patience and perseverance all of the superheroes were rescued!

We left superhero week and moved into wild west week.  We read not only fiction books about the west, but also non fiction books about horses, the desert and armadillos.  We made some crafts...

...played some rodeo games, and...

went on a trail ride!

Up next...Camp Invention
